Wow...my first Mothers Day...to look back on my life, I never thought that I would see the day that I could say "My First Mothers Day", it is awesome! We didn't do a whole lot today, just hung out at home. Makayla got me some beautiful flowers and a lovely card! I just love my little monkey so much!

*New* Old Posts
For those of you that have actually been following my blog you will have noticed that I started this blog back in January 2010 with a post called First Child. I had kept a written pregnancy journal basically since the day I found out I was pregnant and a few weeks ago I decided that I wanted to post all of those entries on here. Here is the link to the first entry!
Mmmmmm Carrots!
A few days have passed and Makayla had no reaction to the rice cereal, so we could introduce something else! On Thursday Makayla tried carrots for the first time. She didn't like them too much, but she also had them yesterday and today; she seems to quite enjoy them now! More big news about today...this was Daddy's first time EVER feeding Makayla, as she has only ever been breastfeed, and I don't pump so he has never fed her a bottle, and because he works during the day I have been feeding her the rice cereal and carrots up until today! Go Daddy!!

A little side note about rice cereal - I called the health clinic yesterday because Makayla hasn't pooped since starting it, the nurse told me that it contains no fibre at all and it totally plugs babies up, especially if they have only ever breastfeed. She said that you should only feed rice cereal for a few days to see if your baby has a reaction to it, basically to find out if they are allergic to grains, the to switch to oatmeal or barley cereal. So next we will introduce oatmeal.
Yesterday I also introduced Makayla to a sippy cup; this was her first time drinking water and it seems as though she isn't really into it!
I just love her tiny hands!
Give me some more Daddy!
Mmmmmmm

Before I Was A Mom
This poem has been circulating through emails for a while, I had seen it before yet never actually read it, I would just deleted it. I received it from a friend this week and it is just so true !!
Before I was a Mom
I made and ate hot meals.
I had unstained clothing.
I had quiet conversations on the phone.
Before I was a Mom,
I slept as late as I wanted
And never worried about how late I got into bed.
I brushed my hair and my teeth everyday.
Before I was Mom
I cleaned my house each day.
I never tripped over toys or forgot words of lullabies.
Before I was a Mom
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom
I had never been puked on
Pooped on
Spit on
Chewed on
Peed on
Or pinched by tiny fingers
Before I was a Mom
I had complete control of:
My thoughts
My body
And my mind.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom
I never held down a screaming child
So that doctors could do tests
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put it down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
When I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
Could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a Mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
Could make me feel so important.
Before I was a Mom
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay
I had never known the warmth
The joy
The love
The heartache
The wonder
Or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much before I was a Mom.

First Time Eating Solids
So today was a bit of a sad day for me...Makayla tried eating rice cereal for the first time, it was so cute, but it means she really is growing up. She wasn't quite sure what to think of it; the first mouthful she shook her head, almost violently, then swallowed, looked at me with disgust, then slowly a smile appeared. By about the third mouthful she was a pro!
