Eating Mommy's Food!

When we were at the Doctors of Tuesday I asked if I could start feeding Makayla more stuff than just the baby food and occasional pieces of watermelon I have been giving her. He said I can give her anything I want; just not honey! So here are a few pictures of Makayla attempting to eat pieces of banana and baby cheerios!

Growing? Finally!!!!

Woo Hoo! We just got home from the Doctor's office and Makayla gained almost a pound this last month! Yay Makayla!! She went from 13lbs 6oz to 14lbs 3oz, which is still very tiny for being 8 months but it sure is a relief...I was so worried when she lost weight last month!

My Birthday Weekend!

Ever since Clint and I started dating we have kind of made it a tradition that we make our way to Calgary for the weekend and spend time with Auntie Cindy and also go to the Stampede! This year Clint was away at work and wasn't scheduled to be back home until two weeks after my birthday, but he decided to take two days off so that we could continue our tradition! It was really nice to have him around (even though he was actually gone back to work before my actual birthday). He worked on Friday then drove home (6 hours); we then continued to Calgary (3 hours) and got there around midnight! On Saturday morning Clint and Makayla approached me while I was still in bed and gave me two gifts and two cards! I told them it wasn't my birthday yet but Clint insisted that I opened the gifts then, so I did!! First I opened the most wonderful cards from both of them! I actually had tears in my eyes reading the card from Clint...he didn't even write it, but to think that he would pick such a card melted my heart! And well, the one from Makayla just made my day!

Real love is more than beautiful flowers and sweet words, more than candlelight dinners or romantic walks in the park. Real love is understanding through the difficult times, caring past the disagreements. It's laughing together when things are good or laughing together to keep from crying when things couldn't seem to go more wrong. Real love shows compassion and compromise...and forgives and forgives and forgives. Real love is everything we share together. Because to me, real love is, and always will be, you.

Next I opened the smaller of the two gifts; instantly I knew what the other gift was. The first was a camera case....so this meant that the second one was a video camera!! As soon as I got pregnant I said that I wanted to get one, but it was the last thing on our list of priorities and we definitely could not afford it. What a wonderful gift!! Now I can capture all these precious moments that are all passing by much too quickly. Love you Makayla and Daddy!

The weekend was great, rushed, but great all the same. Stampede was Stampede, good as always! Even thought it pretty well rained all day! Oh well...we made the best of it. I had bought a rain cover for the stroller the night before we left home, we had umbrella's and took shelter when it came down really hard. We enjoyed the acrobatic ice show, the rides, the food and of course the exhibits! Auntie Cindy even bought me a set of sheets for my birthday!

Sunday, yesterday, we drove home and Clint continued back to work as he had to work today! Today is my birthday, Happy Birthday to me!! Wow, I am 28 today! Where is time going....?

Happy Early Birthday To Me

My birthday is on Monday, but last night my friend Mandy took me to Jubilations to see Greased. It was a really great show based on the musical Grease! When ever it is your birthday they stick a sparkler in your dessert and ask you up on stage to announce your name and how old you are and to do this stupid dance; I have done this before and I don't like it! Anyway, Mandy asked our waitress if she could get the seagull (the mascot for the show) to come over and sing to me...I told our waitress that I was NOT going on stage, she said that was fine. Then another waiter came over and asked to see my ID, this happened to me two years ago and when I handed it over they said I wasn't getting it back until after I went on stage and danced, so I wouldn't hand it over this time. He said that I could either go on stage and dance or he would cause me "a world of embarrassment" over at our table. I chose to not go on stage! About 5 minutes later I saw the seagull walking over to our table...oh great, well he starts squawking like a bird and yelling "can I get your attention over here", then he proceeds to say that I am to shy and won't go on stage, that it's my birthday and everyone should sing to me...keep in mind there is something like 500 people now staring at me! They all sang! Oh, and the lovely waiter who said he would cause me a world of embarrassment was going on and on about how I had a nasty rash that won't go away, that it is so red and oozing puss, and that it smells....I guess he followed through with his threat! I learnt my lesson; next time I dance!

Happy 8 Months Birthday Today!

Where is time going? Wow...I am feeling rather sad today! The realization has now set in that my baby is growing so quickly and in 4 months I have to go back to work.....

I still haven't really looked into daycare; I have only visited the one in our neighborhood which I really like, but I should probably get some comparables, I guess I need to get on that. I just don't want to!

Busy Weekend

On Friday Makayla and I went on a little road trip to go visit Auntie Cindy. We also brought down Grandma Linda's two cats; between a crying Makayla and a meowing Delilah it was quite the trip! We arrived Friday around 4pm, hung out, ate supper, went for a walk until it started to rain. Instead we went to the mall and did a bit of shopping before picking up a yummy vanilla latte at Starbucks, then went home and watched Mighty Ships.

Friday Night

Saturday we got up, had breakfast (Makayla tried watermelon for the first time), went to the zoo all day, came home and had supper, then went shopping and came home and watched Alice in Wonderland! Wow, Makayla is sure loved by her Auntie!! She made it out with a few bags of new clothes. I must say Makayla is the best dressed child I know! Thanks Auntie!!

If you know me, you know that I love taking pictures of flowers....

Sunday we slept in a bit, had breakfast, hung out, then left to come home around 3pm. The drive home was awful, it poured buckets for two hours straight and you could only see the first car in front of you....I don't understand why people don't turn on their headlights!!!

Happy 1st Canada Day Makayla! July 1, 2010 = 143 Years Old

Yesterday Makayla and I did our best to enjoy the day! First thing we did was take Daddy to the airport to go back to work, then we went for an oil change, ran to Walmart to buy an air filter, took it to Grandpa Dave's for him to put in, went for a walk to feed the geese and ducks, then we came home and spent the rest of the day hanging out. Grandma Vicki made her way over in the evening and just before 11pm we headed over to the lake where the fireworks were going to be launched from. I was surprised, Makayla did really well and actually seemed to enjoy watching the fireworks, she was squealing and kicking her legs! I was expecting her to be scared and to cry. Good job little monkey!
